Meet Karen Furlong (she/her), P.Eng, PMP, MBA
Clarity & Burnout Coaching for Professionals, by Professionals
I have been fortunate to live and work on the Traditional Territories of Kwanlin Dun First Nation and Ta’an Kwach’an Council for nearly 30 years. After an engineering career during which I managed projects as diverse as mine site remediation, infrastructure development and environmental engineering, I found myself feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and dealing with health issues in my 9-5 job.
I knew that sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours at work and then coming home to zone out in front of the TV wasn’t good for me, but I didn’t have enough energy for much more. Even though I knew there was something more out there for me and I desperately wanted to find more vitality, I didn’t have the tools to figure out how and I was too tired to try. Through chronic pain and illness, my body forced me to make some major life changes which resulted in more energy and fulfilment at work and beyond.
It was a long hard road since I didn’t have much guidance! My struggles to recover from my burnout led to a desire to help support other STEM (science, technical, engineering and math) professionals through their burnout recovery journeys.
To learn the tools and methods to coach professionals towards discovering what lights them up, I studied coaching through the International Coaching Federation-recognized “Dharma Coaching Institute”, and became a certified Soul Purpose Coach.
I am now equipped to combine my professional experience and coaching skills to support YOU on your journey to reclaim vitality and joy, without leaving your current career. The method I’ve developed will help you make small daily shifts to bring back your energy and empower you to live life how it’s meant to be lived – with joy, passion, and purpose!
